Dinah is a 1933 Screen Songs cartoon.
Summary[]
This is a follow-the-bouncing-ball singalong with some live action.
As the opening credits end, we see the Mills Brothers singing in live action. Next we see a note to the audience: "The music throughout this cartoon is furnished by the Mills Brothers Quartette. They employ no musical instruments of any kind- except the guitar. There is no tuba, no trumpet and no saxophone." Horn sounds, etc. are supplied by the Mills Brothers.
Now the animated sequence begins. A boat, the Dinah Lee, is being loaded. Different animals are used in unique ways to help load the boat. For example, a giraffe is used as a crane, an alligator as a conveyor, etc. The ship pulls out of port.
We are now treated to the Mills Brothers in live action again. They are singing and setting up the follow-the- bouncing-ball segment. The song is "Dinah." After the bouncing ball segment finishes, the animation begins again.
The shipmates are singing and humming the song. There is a storm at sea. It cuts back to live action of the Mills Brothers briefly, and then the end credits play.
