Plot[]
The film opens with Wolfie chasing Blackie’s three white sheep friends, wielding oversized shears. The chase crosses a frozen pond, where Blackie, ice fishing, kicks the ice hole to slide it away, momentarily splashing Wolfie and freezing him. Wolfie dreams of a new coat made from Blackie’s wool, threatening him with herars. Blackie, claiming he's cotton, offers to model his wool. Satisfied, Wolfie demands, “Let me have it.” Blackie hits Wolfie with a mallet, knocking him through the ice again.
Wolfie skates on, pursuing an unseen target, until a police whistle from behind halts him. Blackie, disguised with a Keystone Kops helmet, tickets Wolfie for speeding—ten dollars. Wolfie pays, then Blackie stuffs a sucker in his mouth and skates off, lighting Wolfie’s cash on fire. Blackie’s escape is interrupted when Wolfie reels in him with a fish line: Blackie hooks a dead tree limb, toppling it onto Wolfie, trapping him in icy water. Blackie posts a sign, “Frozen for the duration,” commenting, “Hope nothing happened to him that ain’t fatal.”
Suddenly, Wolfie appears surprise-front, blackmailing Blackie with his shears. Blackie insists his wool doesn’t warm him and claims to know where to find real fur. He guides Wolfie into a cave, where Wolfie cuts a sleeping bear’s fur, leaving him in red flannel underwear. Wolfie, sheepishly, tries to mend the damage, but the bear, angry, stuffs fur down Wolfie’s throat and lights it like a cigar. Smoke cues Blackie, dressed as a fireman, sliding Wolfie into icy water to put out the fire. Blackie skates away, then speeds off to another ice hole, where Wolfie reappears, magnet in hand, pulling himself up by his skates.
Inside Wolfie’s home, Blackie is tied to a post, a wool thread being pulled by Wolfie with knitting needles. Blackie pleads, “Nobody likes cold lamb chops,” but admits he’s only knitting a tiny patch. Wolfie scoffs, demanding a coat fast. Blackie promises ten seconds—if Wolfie doesn’t peek—producing a huge, boxy coat out of molasses and chair stuffing. Wolfie, eager, is shoved into the coat and locked in an electric freezer disguised as the chair. Wolfie turns blue from the cold. A “The End” card appears, lit by a dangling bulb. Blackie pulls out a revolver, shoots the bulb, plunging the scene into darkness.
